On Memorial Day, I had the honor of joining residents, veterans, and families at Strongsville’s annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony, hosted by VFW Post 3345. This meaningful tradition brings our community together each year to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.
The parade began at St. Joseph Church on Pearl Road and made its way through the heart of our city, ending at the Freedom Trail gazebo. Along the route, families lined the streets waving flags, veterans marched with pride, and neighbors stood together in quiet reflection. It was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.
Following the parade, the ceremony at the Freedom Trail provided a moment for our community to pause, reflect, and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The presence of veterans, active service members, and local families underscored Strongsville’s deep respect for those who have served.
The Strongsville Historical Village was also open, offering residents the opportunity to connect with our city’s history, participate in activities, and honor veterans by placing stars on the memorial tree. It was inspiring to see so many families, including young children, taking part in this important tradition.
Memorial Day is more than a holiday — it is a solemn reminder of the cost of freedom. Strongsville has always been a community that honors service, supports our veterans, and remembers those who never returned home.
I am grateful to VFW Post 3345, the event organizers, volunteers, and everyone who participated in making this year’s Memorial Day observance so meaningful.
We will never forget the courage and sacrifice of our fallen heroes.
